War Now: Let's Roll on
War Now: Let's Roll on Iraq!
Well, marvelous Mike and NZ Bear over at the Truth Laid Bear have gotten the blogosphere buzzing with War Talk and high time, too!
They both agree, and I'm in there with them, that the time to strike Saddam is NOW.
First, here's NZ Bear:
War with Iraq: Don't do it soon. Do it now.
Click over and READ IT. Solid gold, Bear! (and if you want to hear the usual overly-thoughtful arguments of why we shouldn't attack, check out the peaceniks in the Comments section.)
Then, Mike of Cold Fury carries on the argument for an immediate Iraq attack bolstered by some things he's heard and read recently. He points out, probably wisely, that there is the increased threat of more suicide attacks here in America once the attack begins; he, joined by other experts, feel that Saddam has told his sleeper agents here that any attack on Iraq is the signal for them to go ahead.
But, of course, we live with that threat anyway, all the time and will for some time, until the adherents of radical Islamism are either killed or have seriously changed their minds about their methods of jihad.
Mike also talks about hearing a "peace-nik" radio talk show and of the abyssmal moaning and whining that went on there.
Bottom line for me: Iraq cannot be another Vietnam for us.
We must not fail. And we won't.
Saddam Hussein will keep trying to get WMDs, as will the Iranians, the Syrians, the "Palestinians", maybe even the Saudis, until they are forcibly stopped.
For decades now, the West has tried to look the other way and NOT deal with these Middle Eastern countries, hoping that if we made peace pacts, favorable oil deals, and gestures of appeasement that the Arab world would give us our oil, be "nice" and leave the West alone, as we wanted to leave them alone.
We've tried everything but actually DEALING WITH IT.
Even with Desert Storm, we didn't finish the war and take Baghdad as General Schwartzkopf wanted us to.
I think that this is the Number One reason that Bush 41 didn't get re-elected (the economy was fine--that wasn't really the problem.).
If we'd taken Baghdad, as was our right as the victors, there would have been no 9/11 (and the Iraqis wouldn't have suffered 10 more years of Saddam's despotism.)
But there was a 9/11...and now we all know that we can't ignore problems in other countries on the other side of the world.
Some say that America lost her Innocence on 9/11.
I think she lost the luxury of IGNORANCE.
After 9/11, we can't act as if as long as we don't acknowledge there's a problem, we don't have to do anything.
Particularly anything military and super-powerish.
Like permanently kick the ass of an evil dictator.
History has given America and the Bush family another opportunity to make this world a better place.
President Bush needs to seize the moment...and I believe he will.
This is one "mistake" of his father's I'm almost sure he's determined to correct.
Given that we are the world's superpower, this is our American Moment, too!
Why not let us use this opportunity wisely and judiciously and strike a blow for Liberty, Justice and Democracy?
So, to our American strike force on Iraq? Let's roll.
(I'm enlisting my blog for the campaign!)
Oh, and guys, Mike and Bear, about that Iraq attack right this very minute?
I think they're waiting out the summer.
It's hotter than the surface of the sun in Arabia right now!
