Hands and hearts across the Water
We share your pain, say families of September 11 dead
The families of people killed in the September 11 attacks have offered to provide support to people who lost loved ones in Bali.
Kathy Ashton, whose 21-year-old son, Thomas J. Ashton, died in the World Trade Centre, contacted the Herald on behalf of the Coalition of September 11 Families.
"We wanted Australians to know that we feel their pain," she said. "Having suffered similar loss, we thought we could help."
Ms Ashton said the coalition, a support group for people whose loved ones were killed, was outraged by the loss of life on October 12.
The group has provided a toll-free number for Australian families to call if they want to speak to somebody in New York "who has felt some of the things they might be feeling now".
Isn't this wonderful to see Americans reaching out to comfort their Australian brothers and sisters, all of whom have lost loved ones to these monstrous Islamist terrorist attacks?
As President Bush keeps saying, out of Evil will come Great Good and I know he means things like this.
