Japan to contribute $1 billion + to Iraq reconstruction
Japan eyes $1 bil for Iraqi reconstruction
Japan has begun preparations to offer about $1 billion to help rebuild Iraq in 2004 in response to a U.S. request for financial contributions, government sources said Thursday.
But the sum has yet to be finalized and could swell to as much as $3 billion if Tokyo finds Washington is seeking more from it, the sources said. (Kyodo News)
