Across the Great Democrat Divide

The WSJ.com has a great, short editorial on the Senate's vote on Chief Justice John Roberts entitled "The Democratic Divide."
Sorry it's behind a subscription, but here's the money graph:

[...]

The fact that 22 Democrats rejected a nominee of Judge Roberts's caliber suggests that there's no Bush nominee they would deem acceptable. On the other hand, the Roberts vote also suggests that liberal groups are going to have a hard time persuading red-state Democrats to vote against the next nominee on ideological grounds alone. Judge Roberts should have been confirmed 100-0, but we applaud the 22 Democrats who saw beyong ideology and voted aye.

...yes we do salute those Senate Dems (for once) who truly have a spirit of bipartisanship.
Congratulations to Chief Justice Roberts, America's 17th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
The late Justice Renhquist would be so proud!
And the Leftist Dems (i.e. those who voted against Roberts) are already threatening to filibuster whomever President Bush nominates to replace Sandra Day O' Connor.
My personal favorite for the job is Janice Rogers Brown, although I'll support anyone whom the President thinks is suitable for the job--as should the Senate.
Guess we all have our work cut out for us, huh?
The Dems will throw dirt, tell lies and demonize the candidate as always and we Righties will spend all of our time debunking and disproving what the Left says.
*Sigh*
Such is life since the Clintons politicized everything and made it into a partisan battle for our very souls.
