Bush: "Strike One American, Strike us All"

Amen and thank you!
Happy 56th Birthday, Mr. President!

"Shar'ia (Islamic "law") on Trial in Pakistan

Hunt continues for Pakistan gang rapists
Pakistani police are conducting a man-hunt for the 3 men who allegedly carried out the gang rape of an 18-year-old girl on the orders of a local tribal council.
The case involves the rape of the young woman as the Muslim court assigned- "punishment" for her brother's taboo behavior of "walking out" with a girl from a higher and forbidden class.
Not suprisingly, news of this made headlines around the world
(and certainly here in the blogosphere) and has caused much of Pakistan to be outraged.
In the "Clash of Civilizations" world of the 21st Century, of which Pakistan is a paradigm, the clash of Muslim shar'ia with the Western concept of the Rule of (secular) Law, as personified by President Musharraf, bears watching to see which system not only wins the day idealogically, but how curiously, ordinary people can be made to see the light seemingly only when the two systems are in direct conflict.
(Sadly, the poor victim, the girl, will still remain raped regardless of the larger outcome. Maybe she can serve as the Heroine of Pakistan's march to Democracy.)

They're leaving the PLA reservation

Security chief backers defy Arafat
Looks like Arafat asked West Bank security chief and "General" Jibril Rajoub (who had Yasser put a gun to his head just last year in an argument) to fall on his sword, mainly as window dressing for Bush's benefit, I suspect and Rajoub is putting up a fight, as are several hundred of his supporters who are marching in Ramallah.
How interesting that Rajoub isn't toeing the Arafat line and is openly opposing him as a rival PLA leader.
Stay tuned. This isn't over.

They're piling on America, in groups large and small

Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan to join 'quartet' meeting
Now Egypt, the Saudomites, and Jordan are going to join a Middle East peace pow-wow with the U.S., Russia, the E.U. and the U.N.
Super. Thud. Look for this to be a gang bang of our representative by the peacenik diploweenies with much pressure added for the U.S.A. to change its unilateralist, "rogue state" position.
I hope our diplo-person has a strong stomach and a fully functioning BS-detector

"Loose Lips sink Ships (and "Grey Ladies")

Update on the NYTimes Irag attack story, which also reveals the real "horror" behind the tale: where ever America takes the War on Islamists, the liberal media feels beholden to warn us that's it's going to be another Vietnam, with all the bad things that implies.

"U.S. Plan Calls for Massive Attack on Iraq - Report"

Make no mistake about the placement of this story either; it's at Reuters, the British-based "news" outlet whose motto is "Blame America Early and Often."
I supposed they think we're supposed to be horrified, shocked and outraged that our military would plan on using large sea, land and air forces to topple Saddam and conquer Iraq. (Duh. But...)
I cannot give the news even serious attention because of the degree of mendacity and outright liberal BIAS I've encountered in both Reuters and the NYTimes.
(If this Iraq attack story is true, then the Pentagon has a serious leaker.)
Even if there's no real story, these self-styled journalists are guilty of the worst kind of anti-war agitprop and an attack on war morale and national spirit at home, not to mention violating military secrecy.
Call it a "(Islamist sympathizer) terrorist attack" if that works for you, because it certainly works for me.
Never forget that this is a War of "hearts and minds," ideas, language and words as much as it is military battles in the field and terrorizing attacks on civilians.
Did I forget to mention that the media thinks we're all as pacifistic, anti-Bush and pro-appeasement as they are?
Well, I just did.
Oh, and they obviously think that most Americans are STUPID.
How I love it that they're so, so wrong!

So September 10th!

It's a full day later and the F.B.I., with the media's help, is not only backing off the fact that the LAX shooter was an Islamist terrorist, but they are insisting that there's "no reason to believe he was connected to terrorists."
This is collective crazy-making behavior and I'm doing a slow burn because of it.
Even the allegedly conservative Fox News is taking a "cautious" approach!
Why? Do they think Americans are stupid? panicky? vengeful? what?
Or is this about protecting our Muslim "friends" both here and abroad?
The sooner we start profiling and looking out for suspicious Arab Males, the better off we're going to be.
Likewise, the sooner the U.S.A. goes to War on all fronts against murderous, radical Islamism--no matter the group or cell the person in question happens to be involved with--the sooner we'll arrive at Victory.
This cult of death, with their jihads and fatwas against Americans, Israelis, and/or Jews must be eliminated from the planet.
Oh, and I don't care for it, on general terms, when someone pees on my shoes and tries to tell me it's raining.
And I think my fellow Americans will join me on that score!

"Palestinians" tired of being Islamokazes?

Intifada fatique hits Palestinians
Coming as this does from the Christian Science Monitor (#1 apologist rag for Arafat and his gang), it's telling stuff.

Who can rhapsodize on the Greatness of America better than legendary James Lileks's Daily Bleat?

This is the greatest nation on earth in the history of the species.

No qualifications. You want to reaffirm what a hellish hell-like hellhole this is, go read the Guardian, or any other paper put out by pasty slubgullons who can't bring themselves to shake free of monarchy. It's the Fourth. Take it to the ICC.

Eight kinds of ketchup, grocery bags with handles. Fresh flowers cheap and soda stacked to the rafters; acres of produce, schools of sundered fish under plastic wrap, Busytown board books in the cereal aisle for your child to enjoy, dog treats of infinite variation. Ten types of cheap shampoo, all of which do the job, and some of which make your hair smell like melons. (The store also has three varieties of melons, precut, de-seeded, arranged in a circle for your convenience.) Forty flavors of orange juice, each blended with a different fruit - and if you’re the sort of person who rolls their eyes at that, and thinks that we shouldn’t be distracted by OJ permutations when we should be worrying about third-world debt, please take it outside. Life is good juice and a big lawn. If that’s what you want, you can have it. If you try. And if you think that the proliferation of American juice choice and our median lawn dimension is the reason for low Zimbabwean agricultural yields, go sit in the corner and scowl into your lager.

Thank you, James. That was BEAUTIFUL.

Why didn't we occupy this country after Operation Desert Storm?

Iraq, UN fail to reach accord on Inspectors
And as we all know, that's NEVER gonna happen!
Even if it did, Iraq's a big country and Allah only knows where Saddam has all that crap hidden.
This is UN "dancing," the kind of high-minded farting around we've come to expect from them.
At least Saddam Hussein is *allowed* to treat them with the contempt they deserve.
[Oh, and when we do go after Iraq, the very last thing that "Rummy" and the Pentagon will do is to call up the New York Times and tell them all about it before hand. Snort!]

(Does it really matter which Islamist group he's linked to? I don't think so!
Those Jewish victims are just as dead.)
In other "this couldn't be an Islamist terrorist attack" news, the pilot of an El Al flight en route from Tel Aviv to Moscow saw a surface-to-air missile (OBL and Al Queda's fave) explode not far from the plane.
CNN's version reads "Pilot 'saw missile' over Ukraine". Don't miss their quotes around the relevant words.
They might as well say, "Those paranoid Jews! Do they think they're terror victims or something?"

Happy July 4th!

I should be out watching fireworks soon, but it looks like it's going to rain here. Drat!
First July 4th I can ever recall in my middle-aged life that was stormy in Dallas, Texas, so I'll have to enjoy it vicariously on TV in Washington, D.C..If it's pretty and clear where you are, Happy Fourth Fireworks!

The I.D. the media dreads: Arab male!

Surprise, surprise.
The CNN reporter from LA just reported that the shooter at LAX was a you-know-what.
R.I.P. to the victims and condolences to their families, but if this is the best the Islamists can do on Our National Birthday, I'm not very impressed.
(Hope I don't sound insensitive to say that.)

Ha'aretz is already calling the LAX shooting a "terrorist attack"

Ha'aretz is already calling the shooting at LAX a "terrorist attack"
One of the first thoughts I had when I heard that the El Al guard stopped the shooter by using his own gun was "Thank God for the Second Amendment."
If it's true that the Islamists are going to change their tactics by waging smaller attacks on civilians (as in Israel), Americans armed with firearms are going to hinder their ability considerably.
"Standing militia--It's a good thing." As Martha would say!
Gosh, our Founding Fathers had wisdom and foresight!
(Bad news for the Anti-gun crowd, though.)
In other news, a small plane is reported to have crashed-dived into a July 4th picnic crowd near an amusement park outside of LA, killing at least 1 and injuring 6.
West Coast, welcome to the party, pal, I suppose. (sigh)
Such is American life post 9/11. Thanks a lot, Osama.

"My Rogue State 'Tis of Thee"

More news from the supposed "civilian" slaughter at that Afghan "wedding party"

Attack Site Had Big Gun, U.S. Says

Maj. Gary Tallman, spokesman for a U.S. fact-finding mission, said that U.S. aircraft had flown over the area hourly for the past two days before the Monday attack and each time the anti-aircraft gun opened fire from the compound.

Tallman said six sites were targeted during the raid, including an 82 mm mortar position, anti-aircraft guns and a cave. He said that hours before the attack, U.S. troops saw people covering the mortar with a tarp and moving women and children into the area.

I have no doubt that we haven't heard the last of this from either side. You can take it to the bank, though, that had the U.S. and Israel joined in that ICC deal that either this or the Israeli "Jenin massacre" would be Case #1 to be prosecuted, long before Mugabe's slaughter of white farmers, Colombian drug murders, or even anti-Semitic attacks in France.

Terror Scholar: Islamists ("apocalyptic terrorists") must be killed.

UPI's Jenni Chew interviewed Ralph Peters, a soldier and scholar, whose new book Beyond Terror delineates why our enemies the radical Islamists, or as he calls them "apocalyptic terrorists," must be exterminated, NOT "reasoned" with, appeased or bargained with.
Kill apocalyptic terrorists, says expert

"Apocalyptic terrorists must be destroyed. There is no alternative to killing the hardcore believers, and it may be necessary to kill thousands of them, if we are to protect the lives of millions of our own citizens,"

Being female myself, this was Peters' most salient point about the Islamist mindset to me:

"I believe that the profoundest ... the most important, most irreconcilable difference between our society today -- the West and also the enlightened nations of the Far East, and the Arab Muslim world specifically, not the greater Muslim world -- has to do with the status of women," said Peters.
..."...(T)he apocalyptic terrorist fears, despises and hates females," writes Peters, citing Mohammed Atta, the leader of the Sept. 11 hijackers, whose written testament, found during the investigation of the hijackings, "perfectly captured the Islamic fanatic's revulsion toward women."

[Ah. Affirmation for my use of Atta's "but a female" here.]
Peters adroitly puts his remarks about the gender issue within the larger framework of Human History and Civilization:

The change in the role of women in modern times "is the greatest sociological change in all of known history, the transition of women from property to partner," said Peters. The entry of women into the education system, the work force and the military represented a change that "revolutionized the human efficiency of our society," Peters said. "This human efficiency of different races, religious groups, ages, and above all, different sexes ... is a phenomenal revolution."

"All this wed to two centuries of accelerating technological development involving everything from the electric toaster to biotechnology has created a society that transcends the notions of efficiency described by economists," Peters has written. "We are the transcendent society, the breaker of fixed systems and fixed rules. And that is the source of unprecedented strategic power," Peters wrote.

Wow.
Forgive my quoting at such length, but this man's thoughts are worth it.
Where has Peters been since 9/11?
And how can we get his book into President Bush's hands and those of the whining lib "peaceniks", too, while we're at it?
I, for one, just bought it at Amazon.

If the Nazi shoe fits...

Those whacky Europeans! Some PR genius came up with a parody of Hitler as a way to promote their "Say No to the Euro" ad campaign in Britain.
An actor portrayed Hitler giving one of his manic speeches saying "Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Euro!"
Apparently, some people were upset.
The media would have us believe they were (Jewish) Holocaust victims Anti-euro campaign's Hitler joke sparks protest, but it couldn't have anything to do with too many "volks" over there unleashing their Anti-Semitic tendencies, now could it?
Especially when recent polls reveal the Brits to be far more anti-Semitic than most people had dreamed, particularly their fellow Jewish "subjects."
Could it be they just figured out whom they resemble?
Stranger things have happened.
Look for that ad to get pulled: we wouldn't want our liberal, "inclusive" European brethren and sistren to feel "uncomfortable" with their moral equivalencies.
(Apparently the ad was supposed to be "humorous," but when you live in a country where synagogues are burned and vandalized and Jewish citizens are ,at least, publicly reviled, humor is in short supply.)

8 U.S. cities "revolt" against Patriot Act

I have this little software program called MacReporter, which gives you access to continually updated news feeds from a long list of media outlets (if you have Mac OS X, I highly recomment it.)
Anyhoo, one of the sites I link to is ABC News and this little item was at the *top* of their daily features list:
Eight Cities in Patriot Act Revolt
It seems 8 cities (one of them is a township, actually) have passed resolutions against honoring the federal U.S.A. Patriot Act, saying it "violates civil liberties."
Naturally, federal law trumps local, so these resolutions won't save their resident suspicious-acting Islamists from arrest or interrogation, but what I think is interesting is not so much that there's a little "rebellion" out there, but that ABC CHOSE to report it. (Note also that the story is accompanied by a particularly unflattering and bull-doggy photo of AG John Ashcroft, whom I think is infinitely nicer, prettier and more even-handed than Janet Reno!)
I could find this on none of the other news sites--not CNN, not MSNBC, not the Washington Post, not even Drudge!
While I applaud my fellow Americans right to question the fairness of our legal process, I'm not so sure of the motives of ABC in making this a "story."
God knows, we've heard about the civil rights of the shoe bomber, John Walker "Johnny Jihad" Lindh, and Al Muhadjir/Jose Padilla until we're tired.
And we'll hear a lot more before we're through, I'm sure.
Some governments, like those of the "axis of evil" are Evil.
Governments like ours, that were founded on the best principles of the Eighteenth Century Enlightenment, are Good.
When will scoundrels like Arafat and the fat-cat Left-leaning liberals at ABC/Disney Corp. realize that?

William Quick on the U.S. attack on the Afghan "wedding"

William Quick over at his excellent blog Daily Pundit is so good on this "Afghan Wedding Bombing" incident, that I must quote the post in its entirety:

Axis of Gullibility

Afghans Say U.S. Attacked Wedding

U.S. helicopter gunships and jets attacked a house Monday while a wedding was under way, killing and injuring scores, witnesses and hospital officials said.
The attack occurred in the village of Kakarak in Uruzgan province, where special forces and other coalition troops are searching for al-Qaida and Taliban fugitives.

You know, if I were a bunch of wily guerillas, I might just use wedding parties and other seemingly innocuous gatherings as covers for meetings - especially if I knew gullible western media outlets would provide huge publicity to any anti-American charges of "war crimes" that I cared to have my dupes make. Or failing that, I might fire at any planes approaching legitimate gatherings, to draw return fire and thus create the impression of brutal American incompetence.

Of course, I'm a cynic, not one of the reporters from the "light side" working for WaPo, LAT, or NYT.

I'm a cynic, too, William.
Or at least the Media has made me into one after all this time and travail.
Afghanistan is officially a war zone and while I regret the fact that Afghan civilians may have been killed, that, tragically, is the brutal reality of war.
And we were returning AA-fire from this locale.
(Aren't you glad that Bush got us out of that I.C.C?! Incidents like this--where they would haul in our pilots to try them for "war crimes" like this incident-- would be SOP.)

PA predicts attack on the U.S.

I was checking in at
Arutz Sheva-Israel National News and found this chilling item:
PA Predicts Attack on the U.S.

The Palestinian Media Watch Bulletin (PMW), June 30, 2002, per Itamar Marcus, reported on PA verbal attacks and threats directed at the US and Israel reminiscing those before the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001. According to PMW, this Friday, in the official sermon on Palestinian Authority TV a religious leader, Ahmed Abdul Razek, predicted an impending divine blow to the US and to Israel. PMW quotes the preacher«s own words. "A divine blow will be dealt soon to the US and Israel, by Allah«s will. The believers will rejoice with Allah«s victory." PA verbal attacks and threats on the United States are returning to the frequency and style common before the 9-11 attacks, adds PMW.
Now I hope that the U.S. will attack Iraq on July 4! I only pray that that is what President Bush and VP Cheney meant when they talked about "striking pre-emptively."
I hate to admit this to anyone, but these jihad threats do terrorize me, even though I know those Islamists suck, they lie, they're murderers and they're evil and we're none of those things and are going to win.

Kudos to the skipper of the USS Clueless

Kudos to the skipper of the USS Clueless again for his succinct (and as always, fairly amusing) analysis of the Arab take on the Bush Middle East Doctrine.
The Arabs are taking Bush's intransigence vis-a-vis Arafat much less well than the British.
His opening paragraph will give you the gist:

The stunned shock of Monday's Bush speech is wearing off, and the Arabs are beginning to realize just what it was that Bush said, and that he really meant it. And they don't like it.

My Bad

The story referenced below is from the Australian Telegraph and not the British one. (Thank God, as the Daily Telegraph is the lone voice for Conservatism in the British media!)
It made me so angry that I just didn't pay too much attention.
But everything I said about England still goes.
Although it looks like America is taking the most perilous course with its unilateralism in foreign affairs, I fear more for nations like Britain and France than I do for us!

It seems that it has

It seems that it has just sunk into to the British mind what the real meaning of President Bush's speech is and it appears they don't like it one bit, like this article in the Telegraph by Bruce Wilson called "Why we should be worried about George W. Bush".
While I've noticed a tendency for the Brits to use colloqualism in their papers, this is rather rash even for them: the first paragraph calls Bush a "fraudulently elected nitwit."
Gee, thanks a lot.
Well, guess what? The Queen's no looker and she and her family act like idiots, especially her husband!
Back to their reaction to our American policies, I think they're still mad about our steel tariffs and the non-compliance with that Kyoto fraud and I think they thought that 9/11 really would bring us to our knees and make us BEG them for help, advice and leadership....Who knows what they're problem is?!? (And does anyone care, at this point?)
The "last straw" seems to be Bush's refusal to have the USA join this International Criminal Court--which I applauded!
And we've given the U.N. a bit of a headache over our troops in Kosovo and Bosnia because of our refusal, too.
I
love that also!
Now that we're at war with Islamists and our troops are in several locations fighting, I can't imagine why the world's most actively involved peace-keeping nation--as well as its political, social and cultural leader--wouldn't want to subject its citizens to a kangaroo court like that, can you?(Notice the whizz-bang job that EU Court did with Milosevich and his war crimes!)
As for Tony Blair, which the majority of Brits made the folly of voting for, well, he's got BIG PLANS for Britain! Like wrecking its economy and the lives of the British people with the Euro.
Tony's one of Bill Clintoon's "Third Way" Socialist/Marxist boys who'd have that New World Order if he could, but I think that George W. Bush has seriously rained on his parade.
That's Tony's story and he's sticking to it and the British people have too sadly bought it.
You'd think old Tony would have his hands full, what with their domestic crime rate soaring (despite having a handgun ban and all those TV cameras), a national health service that's breaking down along with their rail lines, strikes aplenty in other government services due to budget shortfalls, and debacles like that mass "cull" for hoof and mouth disease!
