Iran Freedom Watch: Bush pledges support
Bush urges reform in Iran
It's nice to see that recent events in Iran have caught President Bush's attention, enough so that he issued a statement yesterday(Friday):
In his written statement Mr Bush expressed solidarity with the students, saying, "their government should listen to their hopes."
And this is further confirmation that when the President referred to befriending states and peoples who sought democratic freedoms on 6/24, he wasn't just referring to the "Palestinian areas" now controlled by social psychopath and Baby Wipes
afficianado Yasser Arafat!
More attacks against Jews in Britain
From today's Ha'aretz, we have not one, but two scary reports of crimes against Jewish people and their property:
First there is the case of the German rabbinical student, who was also gay, found in pieces wrapped in plastic, on a London sidewalk.
Read about it here: Body of missing rabbi trainee found in London
And then's there this:
Welsh synagogue heavily damaged by vandalism
What is particularly troubling about this story is that it indicates that anti-Semitic attacks have spread beyond the major civic centers like London and Manchester (where their University fires its faculty for just being "Israeli") to the hinterlands of Britain.
The vandals that hit the Swansea, Wales synagogue tried to burn it down, left "excrement" and destroyed a 300-year-old Torah scroll.
Free Joel Mowbray!
State Dept. detains journalist
Oh, those writers over at the NRO! How they *do* stir up trouble! And I, for one, am glad they do.
It seems Mr. Mowbray, who's been doing an investigative series on the State Department's scandalous Visa Express program in Sauda Arabia, got detained by State's "diplomatic security" for 30 minutes yesterday in an attempt to get him to reveal the source of a priviliged communication from the American ambassador to Saudi.
In a time when our TV media and the F.B.I. won't call an Egyptian jihadi who kills Jews a "terrorist," Mr. Mowbray has conducted a journalistic (dare we say it?) CRUSADE to end the Visa Express program, whereby Saudi Arabians can quickly and painlessly secure visas to the U.S.A. online, with a travel agency.
No less than 3 of the 9/11 hijackers got their visas to come here and kill our civilians in Saudi from Visa Express!
Thanks almost solely to Joel's stories, our Saudi consulate is ending this practice (Thank you, Joel!) and going back to the traditional face-to-face interview process and the woman who implemented this policy, Mary Bryan, just got the sack from SOS Colin Powell on Thursday.
Let's face it, what good will it do the INS and the FBI and Homeland Security (or whatever it will be called) to hunt down and deport these people, when we can prevent them from getting here at all by an improved screening process in "hot" countries like Saudi Arabia?!
[Aside: There was a story this week about 70 or so immigrants from Yemen also, who had fraudulently obtained U.S. visas, too.]
Mowbray's dedication to getting the word out about Visa Express is so profound that he even testified before Congress about Visa Express earlier this month.
Looks like journalism, perhaps with a lot of help from bloggers and the Web, may be getting back to what it does best!
And don't worry Joel, we'll all chip in to get you a good lawyer and a cake with a file if it happens again!

Derb, Let the new Crusades begin!
Hope you caught my excorciation of John Derbyshire's "Islam is about Peace" piece in the N.R.O.
Of course, if my readers (all 5 of you) know me at all, they'll know I troubled to email Derb my opinion also. Heh-heh.
Well, I had lots of company: poor Derbyshire was apparently inundated with email protesting the message of the piece.
[As Mike of Cold Fury fame maintains on his blog today, The Corner at NRO is a great place to catch up on buzz 24/7 from the staff.
It's supposed to be a blog, but it's more like a erudite chat room.]
Here's what Derb had to say about reader reaction (you gotta love it!):
NOT WAVING BUT DROWNING [John Derbyshire]
In e-mail, that is. I haven't prompted this many responses since I called on the nation to rise up against the menace of Chelsea Clinton. A slight majority of what I've read so far is thoughtful, well-reasoned disagreement; but, Mike & Jonah please note, "atavistic, puerile hatred of Islam" is alive & well in America. Lots of people want to refight the Battle of Hattin.
Even though I got my B.A. in History, I had no idea of what the Battle of Hattin was--Thank you, John, you well-read British Man of Letters, you!
The 4-1-1 on the Battle of (the Horn of) Hattin is well worth knowing.
July 4th, 1187 saw the monumental defeat of the Crusaders, led by the Knights Templar, and the loss of Christian control of the city of Jerusalem, by Saladin and his Muslim minions.
Until America came along with her Declaration of Independence in 1776,
this July 4th was a well-known date in Western Civilization.
Read all about The Battle of Hattin--JULY 4,1187! at the Knights Templar History site!
"They're Here."
Terror Cells Active in U.S.
This is one of several stories about Al Queda in the U.S. that has appeared in the last few days and this is the L.A. Times version.
Is this really news to any of you? Just asking.
On 9/11, I had the passing thought that the 19 hijackers must have been here living quietly, waiting and plotting, so Ergo there very well could be others, right?
Then, I read Steve Emerson's book American Jihad and he confirmed that virtually all the radical Islamist groups had cells here, including Al Queda (there's an AQ cell right here in the D/FW area!) and I had no reason to doubt him.
In fact, I think TV networks like MSNBC have had "Terrorism Expert" Emerson on since 9/11 saying the same thing.
It must be a case of selective hearing: we didn't hear it then because we didn't want to hear it.
We don't wanna hear it now, but that doesn't matter anymore.
Since 9/11, we've all had to face up to a lot of ugly truths and this is one of them.
Yes, they're here and we're going to have to "smoke them out of their holes" here, too.
Because I don't think they're going to volunteer to leave by deportation or turn themselves in for conspiracy or collaboration with the enemy.
Looks like many of us have our work cut out for us.
Be aware and alert. You could be the *lucky* American to find some of these killers!
Duty, Honor, Country trumps Gridiron revisited
Peggy Noonan has a lovely piece in today's WSJ about NFL's Pat Tillman, our newest G.I. Joe entitled:
"Privileged to Serve".
Ah, TGIF! for the start of the weekend and for Peggy's inspiring columns!
Oh, yeah? You and what army?
Check out the strangeness at the U.N. over our refusal to join the I.C.C.
It says:U.S. won't make concessions on criminal court
I'm not totally sure what's going on...whether we're backing down a bit or still being firm about refusing to be a party to it, but trying to be conciliatory to the Security Council.
We'd better not back down one little bit.
As Jeff Spiccoli said in "Fast Times," "The whole thing is bogus."
First and foremost is the preservation of our U.S. sovereignity and the rights of our citizens to due process guaranteed under our Constitution.
Bill Clinton makes my blood boil for so many reasons, but signing this is certainly one of them, you betcha!
If only he hadn't signed this wretched treaty, we wouldn't be in this diplomatic mess in the first place!
(And that awful man said he knew it was wrong to sign it at the time. Grrrrrrr.)
Everything is Bigger in Texas
Everything is Bigger in Texas
Well, wouldn't you know that only in Dallas could we have
A Monumental Fire on Billionaire Row .
The biggest house. The biggest fire. The biggest money.
(Can't believe this made the WashPost, though and all the Cable News, too!)
Sounds like *someone*, however, ran out of cash to finish this bad boy and decided to go for the insurance money.
This rings a bell: I think some wannabe Dallasite has done this before but I forget who or what year or which house.
I knew the Williams family who lived in the house that used to be on this property and it was lovely.
In fact, they gave me a bridal shower there before my wedding in 1981. (Thank you, Holly and Carol!)
Whomever was the nouveau riche genius that tore that down to build this monstrosity should be shot!
North Dallas is not Versailles.
And no woman in her right mind would ever want to clean, dust and vacuum 43,000 square feet, not even a well-paid maid.
Drudge Report:'USA TODAY' WEBSITE HACKED; pranksters mock Bush, Christianity
Drudge Report:'USA TODAY' WEBSITE HACKED; PRANKSTERS MOCK BUSH, CHRISTIANITY
I wonder who did this?
Of note is that the hackers not only went after Bush and his Administration, but the Faith of Christianity.
As a Christian, I find this rather disturbing, but not out of sync with an attitude in the blogosphere that I've noticed, and that also has been remarked on by others, of a certain in-your-face kind of Atheism, almost as if to say that to be intelligent and thoughtful, you cannot possibly believe in God, much less Jesus.
I'm here to tell you that you can.
Just like you can't have an opinion if you're a woman, UNLESS you're a LESBIAN--which I decidedly am not--and I've seen some in-your-face lesbian bloggers around,too (NTTAWWT).
No, I'm not even "bi" and at my age, I don't plan to change, nor do I want to change.
So, I guess I'll just have to live with being called a "bitch" and move on.
The jury's still out, though, as to whether the blogosphere is welcoming to the voices of straight, Conservative, Christian men and women.
If Jewish people can proudly proclaim their faith as loudly as atheists herald their purposeful lack of one, why should Christians be any different?
Time will tell if some of this tolerance we've been extending our Muslim friends might need to go to Christian Americans instead.
After all, our Faith teaches us to LOVE one another and most decidely to refrain from slaying "non-believers" by killing them with Kindness.

Iran Blogger Watch
"Let the message go forth..." and let it go forth from the blogopsphere that we want Iran to be FREE!
Blogger John Weidner of Random Jottings has come up with the idea of a type of Blogburst or Bloggers' chain where we talk up the growing revolt against the régime in Iran and maybe even reach our blogging, Liberty-loving brothers and sisters in Iran itself!
As I've been posting about recent events in Iran already, this is NO PROBLEM! And I've been wanting this for the Iranian people for 23 years when the Ayatollah walked into Tehran.
Iran, Be Free! Go for it! We are with you!
And hopefully Iranian-born blogger PejmanPundit will see this somewhere!
Mark Steyn on the Bush Doctrine in EUrope? Priceless.
Mark Steyn, who has become THE Media Pundit of late to read,
has a dazzlingly brilliant piece on European Obstructionism in The Spectator U.K. happily titled "Bush pulls it off again".
You'll laugh, you'll cry, but mainly you'll laugh and nod assent!
EU obtuseness and their grudging respect of Bush explained!
Thank you, Mark!
How could you be Canadian? America wants to adopt you!
"Don't go wobbly on us now, John!"
Allegedly Conservative writer John Derbyshire GOES NATIVE over at the National Review Online today in his rather pathetic "Islam-really-means-Peace" Moral Equivalency argument"Don't Blame Islam".
I'm sorry, John.
I do blame Islam--at least radical Islam--because I think it's responsible for all of this world-wide murder!
I think Derb is afraid that if he doesn't act the apologist for his aunt's Muslim neighbors in England, they'll hurt her!
He attributes their kindliness to her to their religion.
I attribute it to the long-standing traditions of British neighborliness and polite manners, which they've assimilated from the English!
Sometimes, people look through the wrong end of the microscope!
Notice how Islam's apologists are having a harder and harder time finding the salient points of this belief system.
Notice also how these same apologists are WASPS and not its brown-skinned, Middle Eastern or even Asian adherents.
I find it troubling when a "Conservative" begins to almost whine about Moral Equivalency and the virtues of Multi-culturalism at a time like this.
Time to get ahold of yourself, Derb!
(We should have known when he quoted Kipling last week and warned of the hubris supposedly inherent in the American unilateralism of its foreign policy and "war-mongering" that Derbyshire was wandering off the Reservation!)
Iran grows restive
BBC News: Iran press gagged after cleric's attack
I'll let the article speak for itself:
"Iran's highest security council has banned newspapers from writing about the resignation of leading cleric Ayatollah Taheri, who stepped down issuing a bitter condemnation of the way the country is run.
******************
"In his declaration, Ayatollah Taheri delivered a blistering indictment of the powers that be, accusing them of corruption, hypocrisy and repression."
Here's the part I found interesting, living as I do in a country where Freedom of the Press is guaranteed:
"Normally instructions to newspapers not to report on an incident would remain confidential but the main reformist paper, Norouz, published the text and a facsimile of the directive.
"It also published large blank spaces where it had been planning to carry articles covering reaction to the resignation, including a statement by 125 members of parliament supporting Ayatollah Taheri."
As I said before, Iran, LET FREEDOM RING!

This is definitely a rare instance of Same Day, Different Sh*t.

Losing our Spine?
U.S. backs off immunity demand in world court dispute
Apparently, we've agreed to a moratorium on the ICC prosecuting any U.S. peacekeepers for ONE YEAR, rather than press for full, permanent immunity.
Maybe we've won the battle so we can win the War, but I don't care for it!
It looks weak and accomodating to me on an issue and at a critical juncture where History demands we remain firm and adhere to the Constitution.
But they didn't ask me, dammit! (Wish they had!)
Taking their toys and going home
I guess Tony and Cherie Blair and Jack Straw called them home for Tea, but the
British end Afghan mission.
Cheerio, chaps! Thanks for the memories.
Hope we don't see you on the wrong side of Mecca!
Shocking! Really.
Amnesty International condemns Palestian attacks on civilians
Un-fricking-believable. And yes, I think those are Israeli civilians, too!
It really must be the End of the World when you witness the Blind seeing like THIS.
Hollywood War-time Morale Booster?
I've learned not to expect much from Hollywood in recent years, but I just saw a trailer for a film that debuts Friday called "Reign of Fire" that *could be* a big cinematic metaphor for our War on Islamists.
See for yourself here at the movie's website:
Touchstone Pictures' "Reign of Fire"
Curiously, the nest of the "monsters" is in London, which also is becoming known as a hotbed for Al Queda and other forms of violent IslamoFascism.
[Note: There's a poll at the site with this question:
Which do you think is the better plan for bringing down the beast?
A. Take the fight to the dragon: strike now before it can.
B. Wait it out: the dragons might die or leave anyway.
C. Flee: try and find somewhere secure from the flying scourge.
84% of the respondents have chosen A. Take the fight to the dragon.
If I were President Bush, this movie and this poll's results (can you say "Iraq attack"?) would tell me LOTS.]

America needs you! (oh! And I pity the Enemy...sort of! But they asked for it!)
Now day-old news from Tehran
Thousands flout Iran rally ban
The noise to sound ratio yesterday drowned out this news from Iran;
of course, the Liberal media is more "concerned" with whether President Bush didn't report a stock sale over 10 YEARS AGO than whether a major revolt is brewing in the Ayatollah's medieval fiefdom!
One of most interesting parts of this BBC report is this:
Many of those taking part in the commemoration were not young students, but middle-aged and even elderly people, some of them wearing ties to symbolise their attachment to the era before the Islamic Revolution.
Sounds like they miss the Shah.
I'm sure his son is listening!
Agitprop Lives: War-mongering is "out" this year?
Who Wants This War?
Michael Kingsley woke up and thought he was Jane Fonda and that the year was 1969.
Well, he's not and it's not.
It's 2002 and America is at war with IslamoFascism because we were attacked on 9/11 and over 3,000 of our Civilains were killed.
Most of the people I talk to, ordinary Americans all and NOT J-school egg-headed peaceniks, want to kick Saddam's ass out of Iraq!
In fact, most of them regret that we didn't do so in 1991.
I think Bush-41's greatest mistake was not his handling of the economy, but his failure to take Baghdad!
After all, that's what victors in war do: they take the capitol of the Enemy. General Schwartzkopf was right!
I know Bush 43 has learned from his dad's mistakes and the painful lessons we've gotten in the 1990's.
Let's move on Saddam....NOW. And soldiers, don't come home until Baghdad is ours!
"Iraq attack!"
Speak Loudly and Carry a Big Stick
U.S. capable of Swift Iraq Strike
Good news! Now, let's roll!
Iraq needs its ass kicking, the stock market will do much better and we've put this off for too long!
We should have launched the strike on the afternoon of Sept. 11 (yeah, I know there's no proof yet that Saddam was involved, but he's at the bottom of that Al Queda woodpile somewhere!)
And so much for those Liberal nay-sayers that so loudly worry that the U.S.A. isn't 'ready'.

More nagging questions
More nagging questions
Why wasn't that Hadayet bast*rd deported?
For the FBI to admit this f*ck up to me is only a little less worse than Mohammed Atta's visa arriving 6 months after 9/11.
Why do we allow that Lottery whereby his dear wife (one of 3 or 4 allowed to them by Muslim law?) got her, and consequently his, green card.
Let's stop that PRONTO.
Why do we issue visas allowing years and years of U.S. residency with no requirement to declare one's intentions of becoming a citizen or to leave the country?
These things need a "Sell by" Date.
And the INS and/or the State Department should be interviewing these immigrants or aliens on a regular basis.
Being a Citizen of America is a Job; it's Work.
It is for us and it definitely should be for them!
(And speaking of work, wouldn't it create lots of jobs if we need INS case workers to actually enforce our immigration laws? I think it would.)_
Read NRO's John O'Sullivan on the LAX shooting
Read John O'Sullivan on LAX Shooting on National Review Online
Was Hadayet an Islamist "terrorist?"
Of course he was.
O'Sullivan maintains that the Federal Government, in the form of the F.B.I., is more afraid of the reaction of the American Public than it is of the deaths of innocent Americans, Jews and/or Israelis that Arab Males have committed already and/or will commit.
His concluding paragraph says this:
In fact only one thing is likely to provoke the unfair suspicion and hatred of Muslims and Arabs that gives nightmares to Uncle Sam; namely, the fear of ordinary Americans that their government is not taking commonsense measures to protect them against terrorism because it is afraid of offending groups from which the current crop of terrorists comes.
Sooner or later--preferably sooner, President Bush (and his Administration) is going to have to come out and NAME THE ENEMY, be the name Islamo-Fascism, radical Islam, all of Islam that preaches
jihad against non-Muslims, or a variation on all of the above.
When (dare I include IF?) he does, it will be Katy Bar the Door.
The global gloves will be truly off.
The "Arab street" will go crazy (like they haven't already! Their
mullahs have been whipping them to a white hot frenzy, you can tell!).
But then and only then, will the U.S. start to make real headway in this War!
The consensus is growing in the
American Street that we cannot continue to call our Foe "Terror" forever and expect people to be behind the War or even know what it is we're fighting.Of course, we all
know who the real Enemy is.
We Americans know and the Arabs/Muslims know only too well.
It's the "elephant in the living room."And boy! Is that elephant angry and making great piles of crap there, too!
Christ said, "Ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free."
Not until we voice the Truth about who and what our Enemy really is--ISLAMOFASCISM and Islamists--will we feel free enough, bold enough and strong enough to FIGHT THIS WAR, abroad and at home.
I think that the American Public's reaction since 9/11 has more than shown our leaders and the rest of the world that we are patient, tolerant ADULTS and responsible Citizens and we can handle ourselves as Civilized Human Beings.
The downside of all this PC velvet-gloved treatment that the Islamofascists are currently enjoying sends them the message, however wrongly, that we are AFRAID and we are WEAK.
And you know what they do when they have *that* impression.
God help us.
[Thanks to Charles Johnson (again) for this link.]
Forgive my being a weenie, Lord!
One of my astute readers pointed out to me in an email that in my post about NZ Bear's "War of the Memes," I was skirting around the conclusion that Islam is Evil. Which I was.
In my mind, if one of America's key aims in the War Effort is to convince all 1-2 billion Muslims that their religion is Evil and in the end, rather useless as a way to LIVE a happy, fruitful existence in a Free Society, that strikes me as a rather daunting task, but with God all things are possible, of course.
I am a Christian and as such, perhaps the only one in the warblogging world (what the deal is with all the blogging Gentile atheists, I have no idea. Guess it's still not "hip" or "cool" to be a Christian. It has ever been thus.)
Naturally, I believe as a Christian that Islam is a fraud of a religion.
We believe that Jesus Christ was the only Son of God and that belief in Him is the only way to God.
But even from what I've learned about Islam and the teachings of the Koran, it's STILL theologically vacant on its own terms and as my correspondent pointed out, Islam DEMANDS that its faithful KILL all non-believers in Islam.
Mohammed, in effect, issued a fatwa against all non-Muslims in the Koran that has no expiration date. EVER.
As long as this is true and to the extent that any of its followers hold this belief in murderous jihad to be true, Islam will remain Evil and a Religion of DEATH and cannot be allowed to flourish as a viable belief system.
So am I calling for us to conduct a counter Judeo-Christian CRUSADE? Yeah! You bet.
As Rudy Guiliani so aptly said," They're Wrong and We're Right."
Black Heart Down

Hearts and Minds and Victory memes!
Lou Dobbs, move over!
NZ Bear over at his marvelous blog The Truth Laid Bear has penned a perceptive piece entitled "War of the Memes," in which he puts forth the argument that in our War on Islamists, the enemy we fight is the IslamoFascist meme (a Thought Crime which says WageJihadByKillingInfidels) and that to truly achieve Victory, we must seek to replace it with better alternative memes, like LoveLibertyLifeAndThePursuitofHappiness.
The piece deserves to be quoted in its entirety, but I can only hope that you'll click on through and listen to
what the Bear has to say: it's good stuff!

"Let's Roll" Time for Iraq?
Check out this item from our quirky but lovable truck-driving blogger Cold Fury (News, Views, and Random Cursing), who's been seeing definite domestic indications that "the balloon is about to go up!"
"There is no equipment to be had anywhere. Not East coast, not West coast, not in the interior. The last time this happened was just prior to the Gulf War. The military sucked up the containers/trailer and rail space prior to the public announcement of Desert Shield. Could the equipment shortages the Intermodal industry is seeing now be a precursor to a military build-up? Something for you to consider...."
As cyber military strategist William Quick opines over at his Must Read
Daily Pundit,
Add Mike's tidbit to the sudden gush of misleading "battle plan" leaks, the completion of the transfer of command and control capabilities from the Saudi airbase to al-Udeid in Qatar, the sudden IDF clampdown on the intifada (and resultant outbreak of no-bombings), and one has to think that something is up.
I know something's up,too...and it's about time!
"Let's roll!"
Pray for Iran Tomorrow
According to National Review Online's Michael Ledeen in his piece "Turning Point," July 9th--yes, that's tomorrow--will be the 3rd anniversary of a massive student rally against the current regime.
Ledeen notes increasing signs that *something* is going to happen and soon. Another huge rally tomorrow could be the explosive populous event needed to topple the regime's already tenous hold on power!
So, I'm saying my God Speed prayers for the Iranian people, who I've heard are desperate for Freedom and all that implies.
I've been wanting this to happen for them since the Ayatollah marched into town so many moons ago.
Iran, Let Freedom Ring!
(And maybe President Bush's June 24th speech wherein he stated that the U.S. would help any country that wanted democratic reforms was just the impetus the Iranian people needed!)
Happy Birthday to me!
As for how old I am, don't ask!
I'm glad to be here, graying hair and tendency to get that middle-aged flabbiness notwithstanding!
A number doesn't define me and shouldn't define you.
As President Bush acknowledged also, I definitely feel older, but after 9/11 and with the War on Islamists (or should we call it the War on the IslamoFascist Meme?) and the events of my personal life, who wouldn't?!

Which dead Russian composer are you?
 | If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Sergei Prokofyev.I was born in the late 19th century and was a child prodigy, composing at a very young age. I kept this talent up, earning myself quite a name and fully exploiting the bragging rights. I was disliked by Stalin, however, and I died the same day he did. My most famous work is "Peter and the Wolf." Who would you be? Dead Russian Composer Personality Test |
Questions, questions
Question #1: What happened to the new, scary, proves-he's-still-alive video of Osama we were promised for July 4th?
Question #2: Did or didn't our "friendly fire" in Afghanistan kill and/or injure dozens of natives?
Rodney King must be Egyptian
Egyptian intelligence chief meets Israeli PM ;Cairo fears anarchy in the PA
From today's Ha'aretz:
Suliman's visit comes amid growing fears in Egypt of anarchy within the Palestinian Authority. President Mubarak has expressed concern that PA chairman Yasser Arafat's standing among his own people will continue to weaken, and that he will be unable to implement planned reforms.
Oh? Now they like the reforms President Bush proposed?
I thought they said it was a crock?
And then there's the reason they give for the current unrest:
The meeting "comes within the framework of attempts to get out of this standoff, which was created by Israeli policies," Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher told reporters in Egypt earlier in the day.
Ah, yes! The "p" word--"Policies." How I have learned to HATE that word since 9/11.
No, the Arab-Muslim world didn't bring about this wretched state of affairs through their
policies of jihad through murder. Oh, no...or signing peace agreements like Camp David and Oslo with their fingers crossed behind their backs or anything like that.
No, no, no...it's the Israeli policies of
L'Achaim or wanting to live their lives that's the problem!
You know, Nasser, whom I'm sure is Mabarrak's idol, always did want to brag about Egyptian troops marching into Jerusalem.
This would be a way, huh? As "Palestinian" "peacekeepers."
The Saudis want OBL to be dead, too...
ArabNews: Bin Laden no longer exists: Here is why
Having just read Eric Raymond's excellent series on the nature of the Beast [See ArmedandDangerous:"Winning the War against Terror"], our real Enemy of radical Islam, I looked at this Arab News item in a slightly different light:
The rulers of Saudi Arabia need for OBL to be dead.
As Raymond so cogently argues, OBL, by calling a successful jihad against America, which saw 9/11 as its "fruition," has presented himself as a legitimate candidate as the Kalifa or supreme leader of the entire Muslim world.
As Kalifa, OBL's rule would trump that of the House of Saud because he has the mandate of the Koran.
If the Sauds back OBL, they'll eventually have to cede control of Arabia to him (if he's alive) and perhaps his "heirs."
If the Sauds denounce OBL in an effort to appease the U.S., they risk losing the already aenemic support of their own people and denouncement by their mullahs, as well as the ire of the Muslim "street."
Whichever side of the issue they land on, they are through.
Poor House of Saud/Fraud.
How ironic that these Bedouins have spent millions, maybe billions on exporting and financing jihad worldwide, then when it begins to catch on with the Muslim masses, it means their own fall and destruction.
Whether OBL is dead or not is a subject that begs the question for both the U.S.A. and Saudi Arabia.
Our war is still the same--Western Civilization, Democracy and Freedom vs. the establishment, largely by force, of a world-wide Dar al-Islam, a global Muslim caliphate, Taliban-like Theocracy and Religious Police for those of us kaffur or infidels that were allowed to live.
