Across the Great Democrat Divide

The WSJ.com has a great, short editorial on the Senate's vote on Chief Justice John Roberts entitled "The Democratic Divide."
Sorry it's behind a subscription, but here's the money graph:

[...]

The fact that 22 Democrats rejected a nominee of Judge Roberts's caliber suggests that there's no Bush nominee they would deem acceptable. On the other hand, the Roberts vote also suggests that liberal groups are going to have a hard time persuading red-state Democrats to vote against the next nominee on ideological grounds alone. Judge Roberts should have been confirmed 100-0, but we applaud the 22 Democrats who saw beyong ideology and voted aye.

...yes we do salute those Senate Dems (for once) who truly have a spirit of bipartisanship.
Congratulations to Chief Justice Roberts, America's 17th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
The late Justice Renhquist would be so proud!
And the Leftist Dems (i.e. those who voted against Roberts) are already threatening to filibuster whomever President Bush nominates to replace Sandra Day O' Connor.
My personal favorite for the job is Janice Rogers Brown, although I'll support anyone whom the President thinks is suitable for the job--as should the Senate.
Guess we all have our work cut out for us, huh?
The Dems will throw dirt, tell lies and demonize the candidate as always and we Righties will spend all of our time debunking and disproving what the Left says.
*Sigh*
Such is life since the Clintons politicized everything and made it into a partisan battle for our very souls.

Get well shout out to VP Cheney!

Vice President Recuperating at Home After Procedure
Nice to hear that VP Cheney is doing fine and at home recuperating after surgery.
I love the Cheneys (Lynne and Dick) and will keep them in my prayers.

Hurricanes not caused by "global warming"

Non-hysterical folks, like learned scientists, reaffirm that hurricanes, like Rita and Katrina, are certainly not caused by "global warming:"
National Center for Policy Analysis: GLOBAL WARMING
In fact, global warming is mostly unproven, unconfirmed junk science theory.
So, would someone tell Barbra Streisand to calm down, shut up and sing?
(Or maybe just shut up.)
That goes double for her moonbat greenie pals both here in the States and in Europe.
People, do you know how silly you sound?
It's as if this group actually believed the entire movie "The Day after Tomorrow," especially its "scientific" basis.
(Snicker. Snort.)
Yeah, right. I'm sure the entire southern half of the U.S. would go live in Mexico after we gave Vicente Fox a big bribe--where's their bribe to us for letting the entire southern half of Mexico live here?

Arafatian hudna: Have Hamas declare a ceasefire, then have your other jihadis attack

Charles Johnson of littlegreenfootballs fame points out Instance #25,492 of Loony Liberal Left bias in the reporting of terror activity in Gaza:
while al-Reuters (and UPI,too) is touting the beneficence of Hamas to so graciously declare a ceasefire between them and the Israels ("violent agressors" and now former occupiers. They can't use that excuse anymore!), they don't mention until almost the last paragraph that Israel was attacked from Gaza by 2 other Islamist terror groups after the Hamas spokesman declared a truce.
Israel mounts new air strikes, Hamas ends attacks

[...]Militants in Gaza from the Popular Resistance Committees and al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, part of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah group, fired several rockets into Israel hours after Sunday's Likud session and after Zahar made his comments.

Hostilities first erupted when a blast on Friday killed 16 people at a Hamas rally in Gaza.

Hamas blamed Israel and militants fired at least 40 rockets into the Jewish state in response, though Israel denied responsibility and the Palestinian Authority said it appeared to be an accident caused by Hamas members carrying explosives.

Oh, brother! Same old, same old for the Paleostinians!
Good to see that both the security fence and Sharon's decision to pull the settlements from Gaza are both working as they were supposed to.
It's obviously business as usual for the Paleos, though: Popular Resistance, Al Aqsa and Fatah are the Usual Suspects, set up by Yassir Arafat to "pretend" that the odd man out--in this case Hamas--is the "bad boy" of the family who will now "behave."
And isn't Zahar too like his former master Arafat to declare a hudna when his boys are planning another attack?
(I also think that Hamas was suitably chastened by the Israeli response and even if they weren't, we got one of their main bad guys. Hooah!)
In case you were wondering how that "free, independent state" thingie was going in Gaza, they started out by burning down some synagogues and trashing all the greenhouses, which were hoped to have been a source of jobs and income for the "impoverished" new state.
So, nothing has changed; the Paleos continue their love of death, destruction and terror, especially if they can target Jews.
One thing has changed, however--the Jewish settlers are no longer targets and when the jihadi rockets come over the fence, Israel's duty to defend herself will be clear.
And it will be obvious to the Quartet (isn't it already?) that the Paleostinians most definitely are not keeping up their end of the agreement.
